Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technicians work in hospitals, retail pharmacies, long-term care facilities, insurance companies.  This is a 75 hour classroom program. After completion of the Pharmacy Technician Program, Pharmacy Technician take the National Certification Exam. The students will participate in the following for the Pharmacy Technician program:

  • One on one with skills instructor

Enrollment requirements:

  • Student must be 18 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must not have any barrier crime convictions
  • Must be able to read and write well enough to understand material

Pharmacy Technician Objective:

The objective of our Pharmacy Technician Training Program is to prepare a Pharmacy Technicians to provide quality services to clients under the supervision of licensed pharmacist.  The graduates of our Pharmacy Technician Training Program shall be prepared to:

  1. Communicate and interact competently with patients, pharmacy staff, and pharmacist.
  2. Learn strong knowledge and experience of aseptic technique, IV (infusion admixture, and computer entry in delivery exceptional service to the company and the public.
  3. Desire the position of Pharmacy Technician in a fast-paced retail pharmacy where solid knowledge and experience of pharmacy technology and retail pharmacy operations are required to provide great assistance to pharmacists in the distribution of drugs to patients.
  4. Seek to work as a Pharmacy Technician in XYZ Pharmacy, where exceptional skills, abilities, and experience in performing various technical, clerical, and other tasks related to the distribution of medications and supplies to patients, will be utilized.
  5. Highly talented Pharmacy Technician seeking to leverage huge experience providing assistance to pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of drugs and maintenance of drug inventory and records, in a growing healthcare facility.
  6. Desire the position of Pharmacy Technician in a retail pharmacy where extensive knowledge, competence, and experience with Pyxis Report, IV admixture and aseptic technique, and Unit Dose packaging will be utilized in effectively providing assistance to the pharmacist.
  7. Seek the position of Pharmacy Technician with team auditors, in-patient setting, hospital setting, and retail pharmacy.
  8. Answering patients' questions and troubleshoot medication issues.
  1. Processing and filling prescriptions.
  2. Advocating for patients’ compliance with medication guidelines.
  3. Reporting drugs' adverse reactions.
  4. Maintaining relationships with physicians.
  5. Assisting in facilitating communication between the patient and insurance companies, doctors, nurses and labs.
  6. Maintaining current notes and paperwork related to the patient’s drug therapy and pharmacy care plan
  7. Reviewing medication orders and prescriptions and organizing medications for dispensing; preparing labels; calculating quantities; and preparing intravenous solutions.
  8. Checking pharmaceutical stock to assess inventory level; placing orders; removing outdated drugs.
  9. Complying with state and federal laws.
